TCIL WINS CII-EXIM BANK PRIZE-2008
The Tinplate Company of India Limited (TCIL), Jamshedpur has won the prestigious CII-EXIM Bank Prize for business excellence for the year 2008. The Prize was given during the inaugural session of the CII’s 16th Quality Summit held at Bangalore on 6th November, 2008. The Prize and the Citation were received by Mr. B.L. Raina, Managing Director TCIL and Mr. Ranjit Sinha, Chief Divisional Manager (Business Excellence). The Prize was given away by Mr. N. Srinivasan, former Director-General-CII and Special Advisor CII-IQ and Mr. T.C. Venkat Subramanian, Chairman and Managing Director, EXIM Bank of India. The Citation recognized the transformation of the Company from ‘Tinplate Producer’ to ‘Packaging Solution Provider’ and eulogized the TCIL leadership for adopting the excellence framework to transform its processes, people and strategy to achieve market leadership in India with a potential to make a mark in global market.
In his acceptance speech Mr. Raina remarked that the Prize was a life-time achievement for the people of TCIL. He added that this recognition would further spur and re-energize TCIL in its journey towards business excellence.

This certification was possible under the supervision, guidance and support of TCIL Management, CIG, DMS ,the Quality core team of the Hospital, all the doctors & staff of the Tinplate Hospital.
In its pursuit of Business Excellence, Tinplate Hospital has felt the need of external evaluation and registration of its key processes and Quality Management System. Hospital was registered with BSI Management System,India, a subsidiary of British Standards Institution, an internationally reputed certifying agency for ISO 9001-2000 Certification. Ten personnel from the Tinplate Hospital including Doctors and representatives from different sections went through Advanced Awareness Session and Internal Auditors course. The Hospital with the support of TCIL’s Continuous Improvement Group submitted the quality Manual and other documents for perusal and an intensive Audit of the Hospital was done by BSI Lead Auditors and an Expert(Doctor) and submitted its recommendation.
BSI was pleased to certify Tinplate Hospital Quality Management System with ISO 9001-2000 with effect from 17.10.2008 to 16.10.2011.The registration of the Tinplate Hospital is also entered into the BSI database used as a source of information by many customers. Tinplate Hospital is one of the few hospitals in Eastern Region to be conferred with ISO 9001-2000 Certification.
The coveted symbol of BSI registration is a testament of our commitment to quality and customer care as well as a doorway to future success and development.

TCIL won the Second Position for " Sustained High Overall Productivity" in CII Eastern Region Productivity Award 2007-08 on 15th April 2008.
The Award was given by CII ( Eastern Region) to recognise the member companies who are making systematic and significant improvements to enhance productivity. It is heartening that CII recognised The Tinplate Company for not only making significant improvement but also sustaining the overall productivity.
The award was given by Mrs. Sumathi Muthuraman, the chief guest during the occasion and was received by Mr. Ujjwal Kumar – General Manager (HRM) and Mr. R. Appal Raju, Dy. President of the Golmuri Tinplate Workers’ Union and, their team during its Annual function held on 1.4.2008.
TCIL Recognised for its contribution in the area of Blood Donation - 01-April 2008
TCIL has always been in the forefronts when it comes to volunteering for social causes. Donating blood is one such area where the employees volunteer and participate wholeheartedly. During the year 2007-08, it organized 4 blood donation camps in which 315 units of blood were collected and donated to the Jamshedpur Blood Bank.
The Voluntary Blood Donors Association (VBDA), Jharkhand recognized TCIL for bagging the 2nd position among Institutional Donors in Jharkhand during 2007-08. It is the third year in succession that TCIL has received accolades for this effort.
