Tinplate Company
of India Limited is the first Company in Jamshedpur which
has the distinction of being certified to the Integrated
Management System Assessment series (ISO-9001:2001, ISO-14001:2004
& OHSAS-18001:1999).
The awarding of Integrated
Management System (IMS) certification resulted from two
stage certification (i.e. pre and final). The audit was
carried out by M/s. British Standard Institute India (P)
Ltd., (BSI Pvt. Ltd.). The audit included all work units
and offices.
The journey began with ISO-9000 series certification in
1997 which now includes all the current recognized Management
System Standards. It incorporates a structured approach
to Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. The system
makes health and safety management more effective by translating
risk assessments into action plans to achieve a reduction
in accidents. This can contribute to reduced accident risk
and addresses occupational health problems across the organization,
which manufactures products catering to the metal packaging
needs of customers both in India and abroad. With Integrated
Management system (IMS), TCIL reiterates its role as a corporate
citizen that cares for its employees and environment.
The Integrated Management System is a management priority and is presently headed by Mr. T. K. Ghosh, President, TCIL, as the Management Representative. According to him "Integrated Management System (IMS)" is an important tool towards reaching the Company's vision of being a World Class "metal packaging solution provider".
