UTTHAN-8
, A Quarterly improvement initiative competition -
14.05.2011
TCIL has always promoted employee
performance and commitment by engaging its workforce in
cross-functional activities. As a step forward in developing a
systematic approach towards problem-solving at various levels (
using different QC tools ), an improvement initiative
competition “Utthan” ( implying ‘Progress’) was formally
launched by our Managing Director, Mr.Tarun Daga, on the 14th of
August, 2009. Since then , the Business Excellence Group has
been organizing this Quarterly improvement competition. There
were 16 teams that had enrolled for the competition this time.
The objective of this contest is to encourage employee focus on
projects that yielded potential benefits to the bottom-line of
the organization. The projects were selected by different CFTs
of their respective areas on the basis of their KPIs linked to
overall strategic objective of the organization. This also
served as a platform to recognize the most deserving team-work.
The most recent competition “Utthan-8” was held on 14th May,
2011 where these teams showcased their presentation adopting QC
tools and through Daily Work Management methodology . These
presentations were evaluated by eminent jury comprising of Mr.
S.C.Sinha, DM(Electrical Services), Mr. Savio G. Rebello, DM
(Logistics) and Mr.Shambhu Shekhar, Sr. Manager( Standardsation
& Sources Development) at the Auditorium .Mr.Ujjwal Kumar,
