Witnessing Business Excellence Month celebration ,
November 2009
Keeping the rituals of the past alive and vibrant, TCIL
celebrated November month as Business Excellence month –
The theme conceptualized for the month was “Safety,
Quality and Cost”. Employees from diverse functions
participated in numerous events with enthusiasm. The
inaugural session began with the unfurling of the
Quality flag by the Managing Director, Mr.Tarun Daga.
The inaugural session on 1st November 2009 is not only
in reminiscence of the cultural transformation brought
about by the excellence journey but also to create
awareness about the need of the hour and forthcoming
challenges for the organization.
The activities in Business Excellence month is aimed at
promoting team spirit and harmony in the workplace. A
host of events that were organized, in alignment with
the business theme, included the Sit and Draw
competition & Debate competition for children, Quiz
competition, Improvement Initiatives (Uthaan)
competition, Suggestion Mela, Slogan competition and
Poster competition. Nearly 500 children participated in
the ‘Sit and Draw’ competition held at Nicco Park on the
15th of November 2009. The Quiz competition witnessed
close finishes with participation from Kolkata office
while Slogan competition and Poster competition offered
a canvas to its employees from all levels (Executive,
Officer & Unionized), to articulate and paint their
thoughts on exciting workplace and competitiveness.
The lush attraction amongst all events conducted this
month was the ‘exhibition’ organized in Gurukul from
10th-15th November 2009, to commemorate the legacy of
the past and excitement about the future. Retired
employees and also third generation employees
participated in this event making it memorable and
distinctive.

In the concluding ceremony that followed on the
1st of December 2009, all awardees including
employees’ children were recognized in the CIG
Lawn. This day also marked the observation of
December month as the Ethics month and the
‘prelude’ to safety excellence journey in the
company. |
