TATA TINPLATE evolves into a metal packaging solution provider


Mr. B. Muthuraman, Chairman of The Tinplate Company of India Limited, inaugurated the newly built-up, State-of-the-Art ‘Solution Centre’ at the Company’s Works at Jamshedpur on 3rd December 2005.
With this ‘Solution Centre',  the Tinplate Company’s long standing commitment towards the processed foods industry of evolving itself into a cost effective ‘Metal Packaging Solution Provider’ would begin. To start with, the Centre will provide world-class lacquered and printed tinplate sheets to service the differentiating needs of food packaging.
The role of packaging today has changed from being mere protection of the packed contents. Packaging is the first support of the brand, touches consumers at an emotional level and most important, packaging is at the heart of any marketing strategy. In packaging industry, printing and lacquering plays a very important role as it helps in creating a brand image as well as visibility on the shelves. TCIL is the first tinplate manufacturing company in India to have taken this step of immense value-addition to its customers, catering to the end-user’s demand of attractive appearance, excellent brand differentiation and creating user preference through packaging of their products.
The Government of India has been introducing a series of policy interventions over the past decade for promoting the processed foods industry. An omnibus packaging policy has been introduced as also the Food Standards and Safety Bill. More important, the Government has launched a concerted marketing effort through focused advertising campaigns by the Ministry of Food Processing.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. B. Muthuraman lauded the efforts of TCIL for focusing on solutions instead of limiting itself to being only a commodity supplier to the processed foods industry. Mr. Bushen Raina, M D, TCIL said that the Company is committed to its customers towards delivering cost effective, innovative and consumer convenient metal packaging solutions to complement the efforts of brand owners and to enhance the equity of their brands. He assured that the ‘Solution Centre’, would be a very capable entity to deliver value added services to their customers. Also present on the occasion was Shri Rakeshwar Pandey, President, GTWU who praised the efforts of TCIL and said that with the commitment of its leadership and perseverance of its employees, TCIL enjoys a very bright future.
