Strategic Initiatives
- Quality Circles
Since 1989,Quality Circle, a technique
developed in Japan in 1958,has been initiated as a ‘Small
Group Activity’ in The Tinplate Company of India Limited.
This concept is very useful & facilitates a cost effective
improvement in product, process & services of work,
work environment & neighboring area & people building
process. Its application has reached a very wide range in
hospital, operation, maintenance & services. Training
on QC tools & other problem solving techniques have
been imparted to all 91 Quality Circle Leaders and further
cascaded to their team (Family) members. Since we have started
WIN Process and are committed to emerge as a trained 100%
work force, therefore, 2 days training on QC Tools is also
prevalent to strengthen usage of QC tools & techniques
to the grass root level employees.
Quality Circle in TCIL has a three tier Organizational Structure of Top Management, union representative & 24 Facilitators from neighboring areas.
A planned
approach
Team members, to solve problems in respective
areas, use Quality Circle Tools. Problems by QC are taken
for (1) System Correction (2) To reduce Cost (3) To improve
Throughput (4) Customer Satisfaction (Internal or External)
(5) Method Improvement (6) Yield Improvement (7) Elimination
of defects in various areas of Quality, Production, Maintenance
& Services.
Based on concept & experience in the
Quality Circle methodology, there exists three level of
Organizational Structure in QC to develop positive attitude,
creative & innovative ideas to meet company Objective
& to be a World Class Leader.
