Jamshedpur, 30th June 2006

Consistent with the commitment for sustainable growth & its role as a responsible corporate citizen, TCIL has chosen to adopt the Integrated Management System which encompasses all the three standards – ISO 9001: 2000 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001: 2004 (Environmental Management Systems) & ISO18001:1999 (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series). The journey for this started one year back when BSI India Pvt. Limited, one of the leading certification body was chosen for this purpose. The core group was formed under guidance of DGM(O) Mr. A.K.Ghosh, for Integrating the Management Systems into one unified system. This was guided by Vice President (Corporate) and General Manager (Works). Team of 40 executives were trained by BSI as IMS Auditor to facilitate the process. The Company went through very rigorous process of Hazard & Risk Assessment and Aspect Impact analysis alongwith trained auditors. The audit was conducted in three phases i.e. Document Review, Readiness Review and the Final Assessment Audit which was conducted by team of four auditors of BSI.

The company has achieved this distinction within the Tata Group as one of the 1st few companies who have Integrated the three systems into one. This is also giving the cost advantage for managing the Surveillance Audits of all the three systems. The company has a plan to achieve SA-8000 certification by year end and thereafter Integrate this also with IMS.
