‘Tinplate Kshitij 2010 held at XLRI, Jamshedpur - on Aug 21 at the XLRI
Auditorium
‘Tinplate Kshitij 2010’, aims at discovering the hidden
potential of those less privileged students whose talents lie dormant
within them due to the lack of opportunities and encouragement. The CII
Young Indians Team seeks to provide a platform for young minds at XLRI
to engage in Nation building initiatives. These include socially
relevant developmental projects in the areas of education,
employability, youth affairs and health. Tinplate Kshitij 2010 was held
on 21st August 2010 at XLRI’s Tata auditorium.
It was a full day inter-school competition where these
children got an opportunity to showcase their talent in four events
held, namely – quiz painting, singing and dancing. It is an important
initiative to boost confidence among them and to encourage them to
always strive for excellence in their lives.
The Tinplate Company of India Ltd. (TCIL), A TATA
Enterprise, was the Title Sponsor, encouraged by the resounding success
last year; ‘Tinplate Kshitij2010’ has become bigger and better by the
increased participation of around 400 students from over 40 Schools.
Prizes worth more than Rs.35000 were given out to the winners. The event
was graced by the presence of various stalwarts of the Industry,
Education and others delegates from CII and members of CII-YI Net at
Jamshedpur.
All the events of Kshitij were held at the Tata
Auditorium in XLRI. The event began with the inauguration by Mr.Bushen
Raina (Director, Tinplate & Chairman JUSCO) and ended in evening with
the prize distribution which was presided over by Smt.Himani Pande (IAS),
District Commissioner, Jamshedpur.
It is only because of continued efforts by the CII YI
Net at XLRI that ‘Tinplate Kshitij’ is being able to reach out to more
and more children every year. Active involvement from the faculty and
the student at XLRI and generous support from TCIL & others has gone a
long way in making this event a successful one, which children look
forward too.
Tinplate Kshitij 2010 was another stepping stone towards
fulfilling the vision of “becoming the voice of Young Indians” and
igniting young minds towards building the India of our dreams.
