Tinplate has a great future as a Eco-friendly,
cost-effective packaging solution for edibles
"Tinplate Promotion Council" held its
meeting for the first time in Eastern India at Jamshedpur today. Those who participated
were Tata Steel, Mr BL Raina Chaiman TPC & MD TCIL, Mr Utsav Kapadia of Kaira Cans
Mumbai, Mr Sanjay Bhatia of HTW, Mr Diwakar Shetty of Shetron , Mr OP Agarwal of Caps
Containers & other major can manufacturers of the country.
The Council deliberated on the bright prospects
of "tinplate" as it is the most effective packaging solution for edibles due to
its unique advantages viz barrier properties and long shelf life. Universally 70 % of
edibles are packaged in tin cans . The same trend is fast catching on India too. TPC
decided on a strategy to promote "tinplate" in the edibles and other segments in
India.
In the light of the need for capturing growth
opportunities and serve the consumers , TPC decided to further consolidate all members of
the "tinplate" value chain to respond to the changing market needs thus
delivering more value to the consumers. TPC has instituted awards for Excellence &
Innovation in packaging .The consumers will be seeing more and more user friendly cans for
Edible oils, Processed foods, Paints, Lubricants, Chemicals & Aerosols in attractive
shapes and sizes. |
