TCIL wins coveted Teri
Corporate Award for C S R
At the TERI
Corporate Awards ceremony, held on 27th May 2005 at New Delhi by The Energy &
Resources Institute (TERI), The Tinplate Company of India Ltd was awarded Teri
Corporate Award for CSR ( 2003-2004) for excellent work done by it in the area of
Corporate Social Responsibility. The award was presented by Shri Kamal Nath, Honble
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry to Mr. Ujjwal Kumar, DGM (HRM), TCIL who received
the award on behalf of The Tinplate Company.
A 7-member jury, comprising of eminent
personalities, and chaired by Justice Shri J S Verma, Former Chief Justice of India,
selected the winners after a rigorous process. Out of the total 178 applications received
by TERI, finally six companies for their initiatives in the sphere of environment and
seven of them for their CSR practises were felicitated. TCIL received the prestigious
award in Category II (Turnover between Rs 100 and 500 crore per annum) of Corporate Social
Responsibility Awards.
The TERI Awards, was instituted by TERI in year
2000 to provide impetus to sustainable development and to encourage ongoing processes of
environment management and social responsibility within the corporate sector.
