TCIL employees volunteer for 'shramdaan'
The shramdaan by Tinplate Company (TCIL)
employees focuses on CSR to include more than just 'giving' to the
communities that they are present in.
With the re-laying of the
Jamuna Road last year, the level of the pavement had gone down
significantly. Requests were coming from the public and the Golmuri
Tinplate Workers' Union to fill the pavement with slag-fines and raise
the level of the pavement.
 
It was decided to get this work done through
volunteering. Fifty-two employees of TCIL and members of the union
joined hands on April 12, 2008 and initiated the work earning a total of
104 volunteering hours. The work will be continued again on April 26.
