The Quality Circle movement at TCIL has matured with every passing year, allowing each Quality improvement team to achieve higher and higher levels of innovation and alignment with the Company Goals.
On 17th November 2009 "Akarshan QC' from CRM (E&E) participated in the 22nd CII Convention on Quality Circles Jharkhand & Bihar Chapter and National Convention for Quality Circle, Bangalore and was adjudged Second in its category.The team comprising M/s Rajesh Kumar Mishra (Leader) MSBBM Krishna, Vinod Kumar Shukla, Manas Kumar Mahanty, S Shankar Raju and SAA Nizami was thus eligible to participate in the Eastern Region Competition. They fine tuned their presentation for the regional level competition.The result was that they won the first prize, outperforming QC teams from Tata Steel and Bhilai Steel Plant and now bound for the National Competition.

TCIL was commended with the certificate of appreciation for its sustained and unquestionable commitment to excellence at the 17th quality summit of CII held at New Delhi on 17th Dec 2009, the certificate was handed over by Mr. P.D. Sudhakar Special Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India to Mr. Tarun Daga, MD, TCIL and Mr. Ranjit Sinha, CQH - TCIL in the presence of an august gathering of around 450 delegates from various corporate sectors.

Management Services Division of TCIL certified under ISO/IEC 27001:2005 on Information Security and Management Systems
Information security has assumed greater importance due to increased usage of information & business dependency on IT, growing complexity of IT infrastructure, increasing threats and instances of security incidents.
Management Services Division of TCIL has been certified under ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standard by BSI Management Systems, ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standard provides controls for managing information security.

The ASIAN POWERLIFTING FEDERATION was represented by participants from all Asian countries at the competition. Ms Bhagwati Devi had earlier represented India in Taiwan in the year 1993 in the Asian level power lifting championships.
Bhagwati Devi P No 15996, an employee of The Tinplate Company Of India Limited working as Lady Searcher in the Security Department has secured first place in the 67.5 kg weight class of Master-I Category, at the ASIAN POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2009 held at Udaipur, Rajasthan from 01 - 06 May 2009. She was conferred three Gold Medals in the following events - Squat, Bench Press and Dead lift and thus she was declared the winner in her body weight category for which she had been awarded a trophy and a certificate in recognition of her achievements.
